The below items need to be completed before we can add this adapter to the cart:
You need to select an adapter type to start.
Custom Adapter Creator Instructions
for step by step direction scroll down towards the bottom. It is advised
that you read all the details below to clarify any terminology issues.
All plugs are named and sexed by their housings. Because RC and the hobby
community use a wide array of plugs it has become common to call plugs male or
female based on their housing. This is reverse to what is considered IEEE
standard. So those of you out there with a strong electronics back ground
please look at the pictures to know what you are getting. Remember the
word "female" means female housing and "male" pins. The word "Male" means
male housing and female sockets. Some plugs, sermos, deans, traxxas, use a
different method for connections. This is why the housing is used as a
determination of "sex" as this is true for all the plugs we carry.
Use this tool to create any of the following:
- Pig tails for adding to your own packs. (pig tail is a Plug with wires
attached).
- Gender changers, change a male plug to a female or opposite.
- Extenders, put a male on one side and a female on the other and a length
of wire. you know have an extender
- Converters, select the mating plug to your current plug on the left, on the
right side put the plug you want it to become.
- Series adapter, connect 2 or 3 battery packs in series. left plug = mating
plug to your esc/charger. Right plug=mating plug to your packs.
- Parallel adapter, connect 2 or 3 battery packs in parallel, left plug= mating
plug to your esc/charger. Right plug=mating plug to your packs.
- Something else needed? No problem. Just ask us.
Definitions:
- Pig tail: means a single plug with a black and red wire lead attached. The
length of the wire is selected from the "A" drop down menu.
- Standard Adapter: means two plugs with a length of red and black wire running
between them. The two plugs can be any two plugs. The length of the
lead is selected from the "A" drop down menu.
- 1plug to 2 plugs series (2s) : This is a type that allows you to connect two
battery packs in series which will increase the voltage (Add each packs voltage
together). Capacity stays the same. "A" is the length from left plug
to the right plugs. "B" is the length of wire between the two right plugs.
Right side plugs are all the same. SEE WARNING BELOW.
- 1plug to 3 plugs series (3s): same as 2s accept there are 3 right plugs.
(B) is the length of wire between each right side plug. Right side plugs are all
the same. SEE WARNING BELOW.
- 1plug to 2 plugs parallel (2p): This allows you to increase the overall capacity
of two seperate packs. The result will be a summing up of the two packs
capacities. So 2 1500mah packs in parallel = 3000mah total. Voltage
is the same as one pack. You will have two sets of leads from the left
plug to each of the plugs on the right side. There is no (B) length for parallel
packs. SEE WARNING BELOW.
- 1plug to 3plugs parallel (3p): Same as above accept there are 3 right
plugs in total. This would triple the capacity. 3 1500mah packs
attached to the right plugs would result in a 4500mah pack. Voltage would
still be only that of one pack. (A) is the distance from right plug to
first left plug. SEE WARNING BELOW.
WARNING:
When you build a harness for parallel or series use on battery packs
you must ONLY attach packs of the exact same voltage and capacity. Do not
use two different packs as this could cause damage to the batteries or possible
cause other unwanted side affects. You should use two or three identical
packs from one source when doing 2s or 3s packs. for series packs it is ok
to use a 2s lipo and 3s lipo ,for example, to make a 5s lipo as long as each
lipo cell in each of the packs is the same exact cell. (and we mean in capacity,
voltage, size, shape c rating and brand name)
Follow the below steps to start the process:
- Click on an adapter type you wish to use. (You may need to click on the
"Adapter Type - Click to select" graphic if no items are displayed. (we
define these above)
- Select, what we call, the LEFT plug. This is the plug that will MATE to
your esc/charger or other device. remember this is the MATING plug.
- select a wire size. Keep in mind there is a max and min wire for certain
plugs. We will alert you if a wire/plug combo is not compatible.
- On some configurations you may need to select a RIGHT plug. This is the
plug that will mate to your battery packs or other device. If you selected
a 2s,3s or 2p,3p then you will have 2 or 3 of these plugs.
- Wire lengths: A) means the main lead from your left plug to the first and last
right plug. B) mean the wire length between the right plugs for 2s,3s
only.
- Errors: f you do not see an add to cart button that means you did not
select all the options or there is an error. If you see a pinkish box with
red letters please read it. It will tell you what is wrong.
- If not error and cart button shows. Enter the qty you want and click the
red cart icon. A notation box will pop up telling you your adapter has
been added to the cart or if there was a problem.
