Custom Battery Pack Builder

What is upgrading? This is where instead of using nickel weld strips to connect cells together we use copper bars and/or end to end soldering. This method of building packs will allow for current to travel with less resistance. Less resistance equals more power. We only advise this option on SC and only some A (2/3A, 4/5A) cells. For airsoft we really have not found upgrading makes much of a difference. If you are using a very heavy spring it might be worth it. Why the cost? Copper, these days, is very expensive. Also the labor required to do end to end soldering is much more then a simply welded pack. Please understand the welded packs are also great and will handle up to 30amps with out issue. This upgrade is not available for AA or AAA cells.

How To use the custom pack builder:

You must select an item for each catagory.  Even if you don't need wire or plug you must select the option for "No Plug" or "No wire" from the choices given.  If you do not select an option for each catagory then the checkout graphic nor the quantity box will show up.  This is the most common reason people can not add custom packs to the cart.

You should close this window before you start using this tool otherwise your selection options will be way at the bottom and it may appear nothing is happening. You must scroll to the buttom of the page to see the selection panels if you keep this page open.  All choices show at the very bottom of the screen.

1. Select a cell count from the drop down box.
   
2. Now all common configuration will fill the bottom portion of the screen.  Pick the one that matches.  If none match choose the "None match, I will submit my own diagram".
   
3. All cells we currently stock will now show.  Not all cells are the same.  Please make sure you double check cell dimensions, height and weights.  Don't just pick a 5000mah and expect it to fit in the same space a 1500mah cell goes. Simply click on the cell you require.
   
4. Now a selection of wire will appear.  Select the size you need.  Smallers number mean larger diameter wire.  16awg is a good all around wire.  For small Rx,Tx packs select 22awg.  For 1/10th scall car packs using SC cells use 14 or 12awg.  We recommend only using 12awg when also selecting the upgrade option. (Click on upgrade button to read more about upgrades).  Note: if you don't need wire you still need to select "No Wire from the list of wire choices".
   
5. Select the plug you require.  For small airsoft packs make sure you select the "Small Tamiya - Airsoft version" unless you know otherwise. Note: if you don't need a plug you still need to select "No Plug from the list of plug choices".
   
6. When all 5 options are selected (Cell count, Configuration, Cell type, Wire and Connector) the QTY and add to cart icon will appear.  If you don't see those below the price then it means you did not select all the options.  Read options below for additional features you can add to your pack or simply type in a quantity and click the red cart icon.  When your item has been added to cart it will notify you with a pop-up message and you will still be on this screen so you can add more custom packs with out having the start over.

Other Options:

On the right most pane you will see:

1. “Upgraded” button – but only if your cell is SC or A sized. Not available on small cells. If you click on the “upgraded” button a window will slide open giving you information about upgraded cells. If it sounds like something you want then click on the “Do Upgrade” button. Or click on the “No Upgrade” to not choose it or to remove it if you previously selected it.

2. “Extra Plugs” – If your pack requires more than just the standard single plug you can click this button to open a pane that will allow you to select up to 5 more plugs (total of 6). Each extra extra plug will cost $2.50. the plug must be one we stock. If it does not show up under the “Connector” pane then we don't have it. We can surely attach a plug you provide. Read the next section “Edit Notes” for information on how to do so.

3. “Edit Notes” - This allows you to add more information about your pack. Things like wire length or special requirements that are easily explained. DO NOT try to explain a custom pack configuration here. We can not build a custom pack from text alone. You will still need to provide us with a diagram by email after you order.

Custom Configurations:

If your pack configuration was not listed in our configuration pane then you will need to select the panel that states, “None of these match, I will submit a diagram”. This will act as a place holder to let us know that you are paying for the custom pack and will be provided us with more information. There is really no configuration we can't build and if for some reason there is an issue we will notify you before we start the custom build.  Once you check out and receive your order # email us with your attached picture.  Go to the contact us area to get our contact information.

Please DO NOT:

Please do not ask for long lengths of wire. We will provide, up to a limit, enough wire for a basic pack. If you need foot long leads of 12awg wire we will have to increase the price of your pack.  On extra plugs we already calculate price based on length.  So on that wire you will be charged for wire longer than 6 inches.

Also do not make notations about your other items on your order or special requests that you don't know if we can do. You need to check with us before writing a comment like: “I need this by the 2nd” or “It must be under 10oz total weight”. If you make general statements in the note section asking for extra services aside from the pack you are ordering you will most likely not get your requests answered. Again in these cases email us first so we can tell you what to do or how to order those extras.

Do not ask for extra plugs in the note section use the "Extra Plug" button.  This tool will allow you to add up to 5 more plugs.  You will be charged for extra plugs ($2.50 per plug + extra for long wire).
